Now I lay me down to sleep…

SLEEP!-What a wonderful thing. No matter what kind of chaos, drama, or trauma happens throughout my day…all is well as I am tucking in three freshly bathed, lavendar scented, soft skinned, cozy, cuddly little kiddos! It doesn’t matter that Lexi and Isaac went a few rounds this afternoon and both ended up in tears (I let them beat each other up because I am tired of explaining why we don’t hit or kick or pull hair…maybe now the will remember that it hurts!). I have forgotten that Eliza emptied the bookshelf, put kitty litter in the cat’s food bowl, ate yet another marker, threw her dinner on the floor, and peed on the carpet! There is something magical that happens when a child puts on their pajamas…the light at the end of the tunnel begins to shine brightly. All the issues of the day seem to get washed away with the bath water and my wonderful children are sitting before me, smiling with sleepy eyes. There is promise of a new day, a fresh start, another tomorrow.

I feel like it is a glimpse at what my Heavenly Father must go through with me every day. I wake up refreshed and ready to attack the day with goodness and grace…I inevitably fall short…He shakes his head and wonders how many times I will make the same mistake…I ask for forgiveness and the wisdom and patience to be better…then go ahead and make another mistake! Unconditional love is an amazing gift! I feel that my children are here with me as a constant tangible reminder of the unconditional love that God gives to me every single day of my life. I am blessed, and thankful, and grateful beyond what my words can explain.

Now that my little angels are clean, snuggled up in their beds, and prayer are said…here are some pictures from the day.

Lexi’s new “short-cut.” We spent the afternoon at the salon getting our hair done together. Her favorite part is definitely when Stephanie breaks out the crimping iron…Lexi loves having “crinked” hair. I love my time with her one-on-one. Her personality is so overbearing when we are all together, but when there is no one to boss around she is absolutely delightful (except when she sits on a dirty floor at the salon and gets hundreds of hairs stuck in her fleece pants!).

Is it possible for a child to be addicted to paper and  pencil? I am not kidding folks, this boy panics if we walk out of the house and he doesn’t have his “notepad.” He doodles ALL day long, and I have little love notes and drawings ALL over the house! It is really cute until I find this in his bed after he has been tucked in. The bed-tent he got for Christmas has given him the ability to be sneaky and I often find him fast asleep with a pencil in hand and a book under his cheek! Tonight it was just a blogging photo op.

Could she be any cuter?!?!? I just happened across this hand-me-down fleece this morning. Perfect for the snowy weather we had today. Pictures like these make me forget how exhausting she is all day long. **and for those of you wondering…I did not plant the toothbrush, it is her FAVORITE toy. It has nothing to do with the fact that her daddy makes teeth, her grandpa and uncle are dentists, and her mimi is a dental hygienist! Although I will be making copies for all of them**

Oh, and when I was downloading these photos from my camera to the computer I found this lovely one taken by one of the kids OR Bryce! This is my favorite weekend napping spot…on the little sheepskin rug, under my oh-so-soft fleece blanket, in front of the fireplace. I can lay here while the kids are playing and Bryce is watching a game on TV, and I don’t feel like I am missing out on anything or leaving behind any mommy responsibilities. If I am tired enough then the chaos in the house just fades away and I am off into dreamland…but don’t worry, I won’t miss your call!  :)

Well you’ve done it once again. I was swept up in the “story” of your day. It’s almost as good as a visit. Thanks for sharing. Keep them coming.

    Hi Amy,

Aunt Terralee introduced me to your blog when we were over at their place for lunch with Uncle Wes and Aunt Cindy. I’ve really enjoyed checking in with your blog every couple of days to see what new and exciting events have transpired in the Ginther household. You have a wonderful style of writing and are very eloquent. I love your insight into your children, the lessons God is teaching you through them, and it’s great to see your style of parenting. You and Bryce are wonderful parents. Since we don’t get a chance to get up to Oregon very often, I’m glad you’ve been able to start this blog so we can keep in touch with how your family is doing. I loved the picture of you sleeping on the foor. I’m also glad that you’ve found a little corner of the house where you can rest and relax – that is definitely so needed in life, especially with three kids. Guess that’s about all for now. Just wanted to let you know how much I’ve enjoyed reading your blog entries. – Steph
